“We are the first and only company in North America to operate offshore support vessels (OSVs) that are powered completely by liquefied natural gas (LNG). Leading our industry toward clean fuels and reduced emissions is an important way in which we serve our employees, communities and customers.”
— Shane Guidry, CEO & Chairman of the Board
2021 ESG REPORT
Throughout Harvey Gulf’s history, we have always been committed to providing our customers excellent marine service and value. Today, we are adding to that value with a full embrace of sustainability. What started in 2011 with a good-sense business investment in LNG marine fuels has taken us on a journey to be a vessel for change. With our ship and fuel decisions, our engagement with employees and communities, and principled governance and growth, we are setting the course for our company and industry.
REPORT HIGHLIGHTS
WORKING FOR CLEARER SKIES
In 2011, Harvey Gulf pioneered the use of LNG as a marine fuel. LNG allows for at least a 26% reduction of carbon dioxide emissions and a 99% reduction of nitrogen oxides, sulfur oxides and particulate matter over conventional fuel.
We were the first in our industry to implement LNG. Since then, we have begun real-time emissions monitoring to fully understand our emissions reduction from using LNG and what it means for our customers and industry as a whole. In the early stages of analysis, we have shown savings of nearly 130 metric tons of CO2.
ENCOURAGING THE NEXT GENERATION
As we embark on our sustainability journey, we want to provide the next generation with every opportunity to grow and succeed with us. From dedicated mentoring for every employee in their first six months to partnering with maritime universities to give students real-world experience, we encourage the future of marine services to join us on the vessel for change.
SAFETY FIRST
Our employees are our most important resource. Every day they walk through the door, we ensure their health and safety through our unique, real-time Behavior-Based Safety Management system: Taking Aim at Behavioral Safety (TABS). Our efforts resulted in zero safety incidents in 2020 and 2021.
Every employee also undergoes a 52-week safety training matrix that ensures all shore and crew employees are armed with the knowledge they need to keep themselves and their co-workers safe on the job.
