OUR commitment to
At Harvey Gulf, we appreciate the rich diversity of those working in our industry, both in our region, and throughout the global marketplace. We are committed to maintaining a culture that embraces and integrates with this diversity and thereby enhances the services we provide.
Upholding Harvey Gulf’s Mission (see our Mission Statement) requires a culture and working environment marked by mutual respect, inclusion, and opportunity for all individuals. We foster this working environment by learning and valuing customs, tradition, and perspectives of people from different cultures, races, ethnicities, religions, socioeconomic backgrounds, and abilities. Harvey Gulf also strives to create a heightened awareness that diversity in our workforce enhances our services to our clients and enriches the lives of both our employees and the communities in which we work and live.
Achieving our targeted culture and working environment, starts with good mentoring and training. Good mentoring includes helping new employees understand Harvey Gulf’s commitment to diversity and teaching them effective techniques to achieve our diversity goals. Having diverse mariners share in the leadership of our company and management of our vessels is also essential. From AB, to Chief Engineer to Captain, the mariners at Harvey Gulf consist of individuals with broad range of races, nationalities and cultures.
1. Sunshine Kids – Every Year Harvey Gulf sponsors a float in the Krewe of Alla Mardi Gras parade for the Sunshine Kids organization. This organization supports children terminally ill with various forms of cancer. The Sunshine Kids fill this float and are provided beads and other throws for their ride in the largest Mardi Gras parade on the West Bank of New Orleans.
2. Leading by Example – Harvey Gulf CEO, Shane Guidry, has solely funded a Baseball and Softball Facility being built for De La Salle High School. While our employees do not have the resources for such a commitment, the relative magnitude of the donation is one example demonstrating true dedication by our leadership to our communities.
