Good mentoring includes helping new employees understand Harvey Gulf's commitment to diversity and teaching them effective techniques to achieve our diversity goals. Having diverse mariners share in the leadership of our company and management of our vessels is also essential. From AB, to Chief Engineer to Captain, the mariners at Harvey Gulf consist of individuals with broad range of races, nationalities and cultures.


Every Harvey Gulf employee is hired with the expectation that he or she is beginning a career that will develop and grow with the company for many years. To realize this expectation, Harvey Gulf hires experienced and qualified personnel. We train all newly hired employees to meet their work responsibilities. For our newly hired mariners, this includes extensive Health, Safety, Security and Environmental training necessary to work in total compliance with Harvey Gulf's Health, Safety, Security, and Environment Continuous Improvement Management System. Every new mariner is assigned a mentor, who will work side-by-side with the new mariner to provide necessary on-the-job training and skill development. Harvey Gulf builds upon our initial training and mentoring with regular performance evaluations and mandatory participation requirements in our behavior based safety programs. Ultimately, our employees develop the skills and experience needed to operate Harvey Gulf vessels as efficiently and safely as possible and thereby help us achieve our mission of providing our customers with excellent service and value while causing no damage to people, assets or the environment.
